HARBIN TRIP 2018
Flying China southern for the 1st time
From KL To Harbin with a stopover at Guangzhou
1. At KLIA, the check in and baggage drop was speedy and quick.
Tip: request for them to directly transfer the luggage to your harbin flight, if not you will have to collect and re-drop your baggage at Guangzhou.
The flight itself was good. The plane was more spacious than from all the horror stories I've heard from family and friends who've travelled on China airlines. (Not specifically China southern per say, just in general Chinese airlines)
2. The flight was about 5 to 6 hours.
Food was not bad. They gave president brand butter which made my flight much more satisfying.
Tip: I suggest stay away from the fish option when selecting your meal, because they use dory fillet which comparable to chicken, chicken would taste so much more better and healthier. (Dory and it's notorious reputation)
3. 8 hours layover in Guangzhou.
China southern was really generous they offer everyone with a long layover (more than 4 hours, if I'm not mistaken) a hotel stay and to-and-fro shuttle bus transport
I chose grand peak hotel. The room was huge, clean and warm. Fully equipped room .
Tip: How to get to your hotel..
Basically at the arrival hall, go to Gate 50 . And look for ENQUIRIES counter. There should be lots of staff and foreigners there. They speak good English too.
Show them your boarding pass and they will process it.
Make sure to pre book your accommodation before flying from your origin destination.
At the grand peak hotel, check in was fast and speedy. The front desk spoke English too. Ask them when is the bus to the airport, they will tell you the details.
The very next morning, I took the 5am shuttle bus back to the airport.
Surprisingly, they gave me a packet of breakfast, which had 3 paos, an egg and a box of milk. I was already prepared to starve. Hahahah but thank God for the food. It was quite tasty for me lah.
Tip: Getting to Terminal 2
So I got off at Terminal 1 but I had to go to Terminal 2.
Fred not, go to gate 12 of terminal 1 and take the AIRPORT'S SHUTTLE BUS. ( i repeat, airport shuttle bus , the bus looks fancy and new)
I didnt know and I went up a taxi /van which was kinda shitty and it was 10 yuen. I followed a Chinese couple so I thought that was the bus. DONT ENTERTAIN any other guys who offers taxi to Terminal 2. (Warning!!!!!)
When it came to paying, the driver only used WeChat pay. But I dont have , I offered him cash. But he didnt have change. Thank Goodness, I was let off the hook and he let me go.
4. At Terminal 2,
Beautiful airport. But at wee hours of the morning, no shops were open. Only a few noodles shop was operating. They look quite new and modern. I would try it if I havent been given the free breakfast
Btw, many water stations around. So bring a flask if you want to carry some water on board.
